“I have felt very bad for a long time, which has increased recently. I feel that at this moment I cannot focus on my political mission. I have fallen apart and need to recover, heal and gain strength,” writes Fredrick Federley on social media .
Morgan Berglund-Williams tells DN that Federley is taking a break from politics, but is betting on coming back when he’s feeling better. The politician’s chair in the European Parliament will be empty until then, it is not clear how long.
– Actually, it’s sick leave. You take a temporary break. Unfortunately, there is no replacement system in the European Parliament.
How long have you known about this at the party?
– It was a shock to everyone involved.
Fredrick Federley, 42 began his political career in Cuf in the mid-1990s and ended up on the Kungsörs municipal council after the 1998 elections. Four years later he became president of the youth union and after another four years he joined the Riksdag where served two terms.
2014 was a super election year and Federley, who at the time became the face of the so-called Stureplan Center – “an ideological and liberal flagship within the party” – ran successfully for the European Parliament, where he was the third-longest Swede. Crusader, he was re-elected last fall. There, among other things, he has been involved in environmental and agricultural issues.
DN has contacted Fredrick Federley, who salutes through the press secretary that he will not comment further at this time.
– Fredrick is unfortunately not available in the next time. He feels awful, he refers to the Facebook post, says Berglund-Williams.
