As early as March, Trump signaled that he was considering pardoning Flynn, claiming that the FBI and the Justice Department had “ruined” Flynn’s life, Reuters writes.
Now the president claims that the decision was made. He wrote on Twitter that it is a great honor to announce that Michael Flynn has been fully pardoned.
“It is a great honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been fully pardoned. Congratulations to General Flynn and his wonderful family, I know you will now have an absolutely fantastic Thanksgiving.”

Flynn was the president a security adviser for just over three weeks, before being fired in early 2017, after dubious information emerged about his contacts with then-Russian ambassador to the United States, Sergei Kislyak.
In questioning with the FBI, he denied having discussed US sanctions against Russia with Kisljak, the weeks before Trump assumed the presidency. But then it turned out that he had.
Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and made a deal to avoid conviction. But he later withdrew the confession and tried to close the case, when he claimed that prosecutors had violated his rights and tricked him into confessing.
This abandoned spring Case of the Ministry of Justice. In a letter, the department stated that the fact that Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during an interrogation about his Russian contacts was doubtful because his alleged lies were not significant. At the same time, the department stated that the original FBI investigation against Michael Flynn lacked “basic investigative relevance.”
But when a federal court did not agree to close the case, Flynn’s lawyers appealed to force the judge to agree to drop the case. In August, the Court of Appeals sided with the federal court and since then the case has been in limbo, the BBC reports.
