Rosengård faces the Georgian rival in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

It seems more complicated for Gothenburg, who face Manchester City.

– I’m the biggest United fan so it will be a bit of hate for me, says Jennifer Falk.

Last season, Rosengård and Kopparbergs Göteborg qualified for the Champions League by finishing first and second in the Swedish women’s team. Since then, an entire national season has been played, but now the team is ready to enter the European game.

When the round of 16 was drawn today, Rosengård got the Georgian Lantjchuti. Gothenburg’s opposition is becoming more well known. In Manchester City the American world champions Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis play, among others.

– It will be very funny, says goalkeeper Jennifer Falk, but adds that she encourages Manchester United.

“Hard, but great”

– I’ve done it since I got a United jersey as a kid. It was a Beckham sweater, so it was probably seven or eight years old.

How are you going to handle the City?

– It will be a difficult challenge, but last year we faced Bayern Munich very well. Nothing says we can’t do it again. So it gets tough but insanely cool.

Julia Roddar is equally expectant.

– It will be fun meeting another great club, he says.

But honestly, don’t you expect a Georgian club to come out instead?

Double meetings in December

– Yeah, you feel a bit like that. The first match would be an easier step. But at the same time, we have to beat such a good team if we want to go far.

Can you keep your offense or do you need to play more physically and defensively?

– I don’t think we’ll lose the offense completely, but we can’t lead the game all the time against City. It will be important that we train the defensive game and put that at the beginning of the game, so that we get into it.

The round of 16 will be decided in double matches, where the first round will be on January 9 and 10. Returns go a week later.
