Danish news agency Ritzau has been targeted by hackers, Danish media write. The agency’s email server must also be affected.
“It looks like a professional attack,” says Ritzau administrative manager Lars Vesterløkke in a written comment, according to Ekstrabladet.
It is not yet clear who or what is behind the hacker attack.
“We have been exposed to a number of hacker attacks in the past, which our technical systems have stopped. Unfortunately this time it has not been successful and of course we will investigate why and how it could happen,” says Vesterløkke.
The attack means that the news agency cannot send their texts normally, but they work as usual in the newsroom and send them differently, Ekstrabladet writes.
“At 0900 hours on Tuesday morning, there is no time horizon for when the problem is resolved,” Ritzau writes in an email to clients, according to Jyllandsposten.
The agency has chosen to shut down all of its servers because it is not sure how much damage the hacker attack has done or may do.
