Draw in the derby between IFK Gothenburg and Häcken

Jakob Johansson stretched out his left leg. Patrik Wålemark collapsed in the penalty area and called for a penalty. But referee Kristoffer Karlsson saluted on defense and thus the Gothenburg derby ended in a draw.

The situation of the penalties in the final minutes became the great topic of conversation later.

– It’s on me. The first feeling is that it is a penalty, Wålemark told Dplay and he was not the only one who thought that Häcken was deprived of the opportunity to decide a match, where most of the things happened in the first half.

The hedge chased the European place and IFK Gothenburg tried to save Allsvenskan’s contract. The stakes were high and it showed. There was a real burst of turmoil on the lawn from Gamla Ullevi, who did not have an exclusively Swedish class. However, the first part did, which was full of situations.

Häcken took the lead already after eight minutes of play, when Leo Bengtsson duped Alexander Jallow in front of goal after a perfect post from Godsvill Ekpolo.

But the local team, which was forced to line up without several players suffering from Covid-19, quickly replied and the draw was a graceful combination. Pontus Wernbloom found Jallow, whose post was joined by Tobias Sana to Sargon Abraham, who put the ball without a chance for Pontus Dahlberg, the former IFK goalkeeper, who after a stay abroad faced his former team for the first time.

– Must be entertaining to watch, Tobias Sana said quite rightly during the break for Dplay.

Then Leo Bengtsson had jumped the crossbar and Rasmus Lindgren shot over Sebastian Eriksson from free position. And Eriksson himself had hit the post in the second penalty area on Pontus Wernbloom’s post.

Wernbloom can be satisfied that he was allowed to stay on the field after a violent kidnapping of Leo Bengtsson, but the warning means he will still be suspended in the next game.

Since all three opponents in the last battle, Helsingborg, Kalmar and Falkenberg, lost, Blåvitt now has a four point margin to the qualifying line.

– We have it in our own hands. It’s good we don’t have to hunt, a rusty Sebastian Eriksson told Dplay, admitting he had a rough night on the left back.

Häcken took the lead in the second half when Ahmed Yassin challenged down the right wing, but it took until the last shot of the match before the big opportunity arose. An independent Ali Youssef was fouled in the uproar in front of the goal after a corner kick.

– Today we are missing a layer, said coach Andreas Alm, who saw his team go through Djurgården on the table, which means that they are now out of the places that automatically provide games in Europe.
