There’s a month left until Christmas – this year we can’t celebrate like we usually do

One month left but it won’t be as usual

I’d like to put it this way: forget about Christmas. In any case, as it usually takes shape.

That the restrictions allow many people in cramped living rooms and Christmas buffets seems unreal.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has already mentioned it several times. How we behave now determines how we can celebrate Lucia and Christmas.

For example, he said in his address to the nation on Sunday night:

– What we as a country do wrong now, we have to suffer later. What we do now we will enjoy later. What we do now affects what Lucia’s celebration will be like. How will the Christmas celebration be?

Like many others, Löfven still seems to hope that might be able to fix it. That Christmas should be pretty ordinary, despite the wreath.

But sadly, I think we can forget it. Forget the fat as it is called today. It won’t even be reasonably normal.

These are the main reasons:

Stefan Löfven gave a speech to the nation on Sunday.

1. Keep your distance. The authorities give different information on how far is an acceptable distance, it varies between an arm and two meters or a little more.

But no matter what length measurement you think is the correct distance, few live so large that you can always keep it in a normal home with a pack opening and maybe even games.

A buffet, a way to put the many dishes of Christmas in order, can be organized with safe distances maintained. If a law enforcement officer is appointed to intervene in case of violations.

2. The eight-person roof. It will be presented tomorrow and will be valid for up to four weeks. It sounds more like a godly hope than a reality that it will then completely disappear. I think it will be expanded. The limit applies to formal meetings that are covered by the Public Order Law, but must be normative for the entire society. It has an inhibiting effect on Christmas parties planned in the style of Fanny and Alexander.

“It is unrealistic that the restrictions allow many people in tight living rooms,” writes Lena Mellin.

3. Löfven and Hallengren rules. During press conferences, the Minister of State and Social Affairs has recently released his own rules, or rather personal color rules. If you are going to follow them, the traditional Christmas celebration will also be difficult, or downright impossible, to carry out.

According to Hallengren, he does not maintain a social distance if he stays closer to another person, who does not belong to his own home, 1.5 meters for 15 minutes. Despite many searches, the Public Health Agency website does not contain a corresponding rule.

The Prime Minister believes that no one at the moment get meet, in the sense of socializing, someone outside your own home. If you live alone, you may meet one or possibly two close friends.

In the first case, the public health authority used the phrase “if possible to avoid” single people are not mentioned at all, which I have been able to see despite the urge to google.

The public health authority has promised to present its point of view of the Christmas celebrations in the midst of December. But as it looks now, I dare to promise that the restrictions will be largely maintained. Today, with a month to go until Christmas Eve, there is still no indication to the contrary.
