The parents of an abandoned baby found at the airport in the Qatari capital Doha in early November have been identified. The girl was lying in a trash can in one of the airport bathrooms when they found her.
Non-Qatari parents are abroad. An international arrest warrant is being prepared, according to prosecutors.
The woman who is presumed to be the mother of the child risks 15 years in prison if she is found guilty of abandoning her child.
According to the prosecutor, she could be identified after the father told authorities that she had sent him a photo of the girl shortly after the birth.
The incident led to international condemnation after several female passengers who were at the airport when the baby was found were forced to undergo gynecological exams. Several of the women were heading to Sydney, where news of their treatment sparked a diplomatic dispute between Australia and Qatar.
