Covid-19 in nursing homes in 93 Swedish municipalities

220 out of 290 municipalities in Sweden have responded to the survey.

Many municipalities have responded that, in part, they believe that the infection was due to staff or visitors showing no symptoms and, in part, that residents who were moving around the community or were in the hospital may have brought the infection.

On Friday, Borås had COVID-19 in seven out of a total of 19 nursing homes.

– Somehow we have had to accept that the infection enters. It would have been desirable to think that all of our routines are so perfect that they are not, but this virus is too insidious for that. So no, our goal is to limit the spread of the infection when we contract it, says Anna-Clara Ringnes, director of care operations and nursing homes in the city of Borås, to Ekot.

“Every day is a puzzle”

Several municipalities have responded that they are concerned about not having enough staff.

– With this monitoring of infections that we do, we have many who get sick based on it. Then there’s the family quarantine, vab and things like that. Every day is a puzzle, Anna-Clara Ringnes tells Ekot.
