The skirt was not long enough.

After the first debate of Nooshi Dadgostar (V) in the Riksdag, Björn Söder (SD) took his outfit with all the group leaders in the Riksdag.

– I felt as if I had reached a medieval market, the Riksdag camera, says in the podcast “Fanny’s role models”.

After Nooshi Dadgostar had his first Riksdag debate in 2014, he left the House, satisfied with his performance. But he soon found out that the other vice president Björn Söder (SD) raised the issue of her skirt length in a meeting with all the group leaders in the Riksdag.

– It hadn’t happened to any man. Now maybe no man had worn a skirt, but to be singled out in his outfit like that, he says on the podcast “Fanny’s Role Models.”

On October 21, 2014, Nooshi Dadgostar had a discussion at the Riksdag about leases. His press department believes that it is this outfit Björn Söder (SD) commented on.

He was surprised that it could be such an important garment. That it was what he was wearing, and not what he said, that was discussed.

“I do not intend to send”

The Riksdag website states that those who work at the Casa must have well-groomed clothing. Ethics expert Magdalena Ribbing wrote in DN 2011 that well-groomed clothing means that you should dress a step above your everyday clothes, that is, not “jeans-sweater-sneakers,” as she puts it.

In the podcast, Nooshi Dadgostar remembers it as if the skirt was above the knees, in the images of the debate that his press department thinks it is, the skirt is a little shorter. According to Dadgostar, Björn Söder should think that the skirt would be enough for the ankle.

When asked how he handled the skirt length accusation, he said he just let it flow out of it.

– I approached it ignoring it. I’m not going to submit to that kind of thing.

Vulnerable political women

A report from the Gender Equality Authority states that women are tougher than men in politics. According to him, female Riksdag members are systematically affected by government techniques in their workplace and are also exposed to serious threats and hatred both at work and on social media.

There are several examples where it has become a big thing of what women politicians choose to wear. Earlier this fall, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin generated an intense debate when she appeared in the fashion magazine Trendi. She was wearing a jacket with a plunging neckline, something that upset many on social media.

But many also took Marin to his defense, including Member of Parliament Annika Strandhäll.

– Stop commenting on women’s clothing and listen to what they say instead, he said then.

Aftonbladet has sought out Björn Söder and has been in contact with the press department of the Swedish Democrats.
