Defeated by Ebba Andersson last Friday.
On Sunday, Frida Karlsson took her revenge and won the freestyle race at Bruksvallarna.
– It was a good race today, says Frida Karlsson to Sportbladet.
Saturday’s sprint winner Maja Dahlqvist did an impressive 10km freestyle run on Sunday. With a rough start, he put pressure on fellow national team members who started later.
– It’s a robbery opening, exclaimed SVT expert Anders Blomquist.
Maja Dahlqvist was ahead of Ebba Andersson by just over seven kilometers, then the distance star caught up with him and made an enormously sharp finish. In the end, Ebba Andersson was just over seven seconds ahead of Maja Dahlqvist at the finish. For Maja Dahlqvist, however, it was a real welcome that she was back after a tougher season.
– It almost surprised me more today. Today it exceeded expectations, says Maja Dahlqvist after the podium.
Regarding the difficult opening, he said it could be difficult.
– I thought the first half of the race was a competition in itself, then it had to wear out or break. Maybe it was a bit of a rough start, he says.
But the fastest of all was Frida Karlsson. The 21-year-old started far back on the field but hit the grip directly and was three seconds ahead of Dahlqvist in the first half time, 1.4 kilometers and was 18 seconds at most behind Ebba Andersson.
Frida Karlsson endured in the distance and although the distance to Ebba Andersson decreased. Karlsson had the opportunity to drive with Ebba Andersson for part of the race, but couldn’t keep up.
– I wonder what happened when he lost Ebba Andersson’s back, said SVT expert Anders Blomquist.
However, there was no great drama for Frida Karlsson:
– It was like a few meters above the ridge, didn’t get back or suction down and lost a bit then, he tells SVT afterwards.
Frida Karlsson did not know what the distance to Ebba Andersson was:
– Today I had no control. I didn’t get times during the race, says Frida Karlsson.
However, Frida Karlsson managed to gain strength and showed that the form is strong a week before the premiere at the World Cup. She won by just under ten seconds.
Ebba Andersson has driven hard with three races this weekend:
– The feeling today is that I had to work a little more than the other day. At the same time, it is the third competition after a difficult weekend, Ebba Andersson tells SVT.
