Here the HV receipt is judged at the last second

The last time HV71 played a game it was away against Växjö more than three weeks ago. This time it was a 6-3 loss, before an even bigger setback awaited Jönköping’s team: A widespread wave of coronavirus in and around the team.

Game after game had to be postponed for a while for the HV band before being back in play on Saturday when Färjestad waited in Karlstad.

It started well for HV71, who seemed to have kept the pace of the match well despite infection and the absence of the game. Alexander Bergström became the first scorer of the first period.

Scorer Nygård

But in the other it was Färjestad’s turn.

Victor Ejdsell missed the tie before NHL loan officer Joakim Nygård scored the long-awaited first goal of the season. It was in the power play that Nygård stayed in front of goal and shoved the puck into the net after a delicious ‘pass between the legs’ by Per Åslund.

Extended management

It wasn’t just Nygård who would score his first goal of the season. Adam Ginning left Linköping for Färjestad before the season and it was he who midway through the third period rose to 3-1. Two assists in 14 games before that for the 20-year-old hill.

Just over a minute into the third period, HV71 dropped to 2-3 in powerplay. Linus Fröberg stayed ahead on a goalkeeper comeback and scored his sixth goal of the season.

Dramatic ending

When the clock struck 60.00, HV71 had a puck in goal. The judges called and it appeared the case was made before time ran out. But they also found a cut in Christian Sandberg, and the goal was ruled out.

Färjestad won 3-2.

– I hope you are right in your assessment, otherwise it will be very decisive. You can see there’s a club there, but the question is whether the rotation falls on the goalkeeper before or before the puck enters, HV71 coach Nicklas Rahm reluctantly tells C More afterward.
