Unpleasant scenes took place in Örebro when Emil Larsson harshly tackled Oscar Sundh of Oskarshamn.
Sundh lay on the ice for a long time, was taken out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
– It’s a concussion and I hope I can go home to Oskarshamn, says Oskarshamn CEO Thomas Fröberg.
With nine minutes to go in the third period, Oscar Sundh arrived driving with the puck in the midfield.
The IKO striker passed the puck and didn’t see when Emil Larsson came from the other side and hit him hard with a tackle to the chest.
The blow struck hard and Sundh seemed motionless on the ice.
Sundh was quickly treated on the ice, but was left lying down for a long time and had to be carried out on a stretcher. However, while lying on the gurney, he reached out and showed that he was conscious.
After deliberation among the judges, Larsson’s entry was deemed fine and he was not sent off.
“So fucking bad”
Oskarshamn General Manager Thomas Fröberg was really angry afterwards.
– I think it’s so damn bad. There are four judges on the ice and not a replay of the jumbotron that allows them to make an evaluation. Of course, they will show him again on the jumbo throne, he tells Sportbladet.
– This kind of thing should not happen at SHL 2020 and is under all criticism. The tackle is a clear blindside and the judges would have seen it if they had seen a replay. It would have pissed me off so much if it was one of my players making such a tackle, he continues.
How is Oskar?
– He has sent an SMS to his girl and told her that she is fine. It’s a concussion and I hope I can go back to Oskarshamn, says Fröberg.
What penalty should be imposed for the tackle?
– It will be reported later. I am convinced of that and there will probably be some suspended matches, he says.
“Giant mistake”
Oskarshamn’s coach Martin Filander, of course, hopes Sundh is okay, but he also criticized the fact that there was no sending off.
– It’s a big mistake that it’s nothing like that. It’s the blind side, straight to the jaw and he’s third. There are many parameters. It looks terribly unsightly and I can only hope it feels good, says Filander on C More.
– Since they don’t throw the (replay) as you should walk the jumbotron, they (the judges) don’t get a chance to see it even though they have the right to do so. They have the opportunity to see what they see on the go. We have aids and we see exactly what has happened. It’s a great pity, but especially a pity about Oscar, he says.
Örebro won the match 2-1 since Glenn Gustafsson decided in the third period. It was Oskarshamn’s fifth consecutive loss.
