Luleå entered the first leg against Linköping with a small drop in his luggage. No win in regulation time and just two points from the last four games has seen Luleå slide a bit down the table.
But against Linköping, they were completely back on the winning track after a win in overtime against Örebro.
Nils Lundkvist accounted for his third goal of the season when he neatly placed the first goal five minutes from the end of the first period.
Luleå won against Linköping
Then Linus Klasen extended in the second period with a solo number where he knocked out several defenders before placing the puck over Niklas Lundström.
Linköping cut through Jonas Holös and the second period ended 2-2 after Karl Fabricius and Nikola Pasic each scored a goal.
The final period was scoreless and Linköping coach Bert Robertsson believes his team could have scored points in the 3-2 game against Luleå.
– Luleå are efficient. They don’t create many scoring opportunities, but they score goals in what they create. You can still give them that, says Robertsson on C More.
– We have to get stronger with the album. Very often we are the first on the album but we lose it. We need to create a stronger game in the front zone.
Stridh: “It may disappear for a while”
Luleå assistant coach Henrik Stridh believes his team has improved compared to recent matches.
– We have a better passing game and we take care of the puck. This allows us to spend some time and at the same time cultivate an attacking game. It feels like we’re playing the home game in a safe way, says Stridh.
Luleå now climbs to 27 points in the SHL table after 14 games played. Linköping has also played 14 games and has 14 points in the penultimate place of the table.
