The Pope raised his thumb and a Brazilian bikini model went to heaven.

This is how Natalia Garibotto jokingly describes the sensation after Francis’s official Instagram account liked her photo dressed in light clothing. The Vatican demands an explanation.

Nobody knows when or how it happened. But somehow, Pope Francis’ official Instagram account has been printed as an image of model Natalia Garibotto in a lightly dressed variant of a school uniform.

The media began reporting on the sensational likes a week ago, before it was removed. And since then, Vatican officials have announced that they are investigating how this could have happened to the Pope’s account, which has more than seven million followers and does not follow any other account.

The Pope’s press department tells the BBC that the likes do not come from the Holy See and that they have turned to Instagram for an explanation.

Several people are working to update Pope Francis’ social media. He rarely creates content himself.

“The Pope is not like Donald Trump, he does not sit with his phone or computer and tweet all day,” Robert Mickens, editor of the Catholic newspaper La Croix, told The Guardian.

– It has nothing to do with this, it must be your communication department, and how it went … who knows?

Natalia Garibotto has joked that the pope’s thumbs-up at least means he will go to heaven.
