The green-blue majority told during a swiftly convened press conference on Friday about the situation in the city of Stockholm and the latest measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Finansborgarråd Anna König Jerlmyr (M) announced that the city will abolish holiday jobs for young people during the Christmas holidays.
– Vacation jobs are an extremely important step in working life for many young people, but in the situation that prevails during the pandemic, we cannot safely welcome young vacation workers to our operations, says Anna König Jerlmyr.
She also raised that the number of confirmed crown falls is increasing in the city’s nursing homes and announced that there will therefore be a visit stop at the city service building from November 23 to 30, a visit stop that it will probably spread.
Elder Councilor Erik Slottner (KD) emphasizes that exceptions can be made by interrupting visitation, even for spouses. He says he was happy when the visiting stop was lifted and that it was sad when it had to be reintroduced, but that there was no other option.
– I know that the elderly are and have been the ones who carried the greatest burden in this pandemic. In our homes there are elderly people who long for family and a social life and many are afraid of being infected.
Even the open social The meeting points for the elderly will be temporarily closed.
– We will close those meeting points for at least four weeks in the future, as there is an obvious risk of infection there, says Erik Slottner.
DN has previously recounted how Swedish municipalities choose different paths after the Public Health Agency and the government discouraged visits to swimming pools, gyms and libraries. The city of Gothenburg closed the municipal swimming pools and gyms three weeks ago, while in Örebro it is up to each business how to keep them open.
Now the city of Stockholm announces that the municipal gymnasiums and swimming pools are closed, but that the libraries remain open. This is because they are considered a socially important function for those citizens who do not have their own access, among other things, to the Internet.
– Our call is: Do not visit libraries unless absolutely necessary. There is a lot to participate in digitally and we offer you home delivery of books in the risk group, says Citizen Councilor for the labor market and sports Karin Ernlund (C).
All sports activities for adults are reserved, but the equivalent for children and young people does not affect. The activities of swimming schools and associations for children and young people also continue as usual. The ice rinks will also be closed, but school classes have the opportunity to get there on weekdays.
Finansborgarrådet Anna König Jerlmyr He also called on the government to take financial responsibility for the economic losses suffered by Stockholmers as a result of the new restrictions.
– It is time to give information about our basic industry, the hotel industry and how it should survive.
