Public transport trips in both Stockholm and Gothenburg and Malmö have declined in recent days. Stock Photography.
Since strict crown restrictions were introduced on Monday, fewer people ride public transport and more people work from home, SVT Nyheter reports.
Aggregate mobile data for the Telia metropolitan regions shows that Monday through Wednesday travel decreased by two to four percent compared to the same days last week.
Telia data also shows that more people work from home – for example, trips to and from Solna’s Stockholm office decreased by seven percent compared to last week.
Travel has also decreased on public transport. According to Västtrafik, the number of trips was 42 percent less than in the same week in 2019, while SL claims that the number of passengers on trains and subways has been cut by more than half. The same trend can be seen in Skånetrafiken, where 17 percent fewer people traveled by bus and Pågatågen.
