On Thursday afternoon, the Stockholm region alerted that the wrong material had been used to sample the ongoing corona infection.
This is due to a shipment of sample material that resulted in reduced sensitivity in the analysis of certain samples.
About 1,000 people are affected by this because most of them have been told that they do not have a coronary infection, but who would probably have been told otherwise with the proper equipment.
“Is seriously”
Those who have not yet received the test answer will receive the “technically incorrect” answer, the Stockholm region writes in a press release.
“It is serious that the material has been wrong, but at the same time it is good that it has been discovered in the quality reviews that are made. It is important to strictly follow the rules that exist and always isolate yourself while you have minimal symptoms of illness.“Says Chief Physician Elda Sparrelid, in a press release.
The reduced sensitivity in the analyzes is also estimated to have affected the test results of up to 500 care workers.
Stopped with immediate effect
A total of 136,500 samples were taken during the period the wrong material was used.
Therefore, the incorrect sampling material has been stopped with immediate effect and has been collected from all places where it could have been used.
The incorrect material was used between October 26 and November 17 at nine self-service stations in the county.
Reported to the Medical Products Agency
The Stockholm Region writes in the press release that it is not possible to subsequently identify which people have received incorrect test results.
“The incident was reported to the Medical Products Agency and the Public Health Agency was notified to ensure it is not used in other parts of the country.“Write the Stockholm region in a press release.
