Gothenburg restaurants are still going through tough times, and starting next weekend, it won’t be any easier.
The prohibition on the sale of alcohol then begins to apply after 10 pm. But to save the restaurants, the Gothenburg Democratic party now has a proposal.
– We want to make things easier for the restaurant industry in the crown crisis. It can even help some hotels, so we see it as a little way from Gothenburg city to show interest in our excellent business life, says Martin Wannholt.
In a request to the city board, Democrats propose that restaurants should be able to sell alcohol, in connection with food delivery. The Democrats refer to similar decisions that have been made in Malmö and Växjö.
“No oddities”
Now a decision on the issue is expected at City Hall, and Martin Wannholt tells GP that he sees no strangeness with the new proposal.
– You have been complaining to the administrative board of the county where it was introduced, it would be strange otherwise. But as I understand it, it is not strange: the delivery person pours the beer or wine and then they have already been there and served. The lawyers have to argue about it, now we have a crisis and then we have to accept all the proposals, Martin Wannholt tells GP.
