Prepare for weather changes.
After an unusually mild November, you now expect significantly cooler weather with snowfall in many places.
The first snow of the season awaits Thursday in many parts of the country.
– North of Stockholm, around Gävleborg, we can definitely see snowfall. But be prepared for wet snow, says Maria Augutis, a Strom meteorologist.
SMHI has issued a class 2 warning for up to 30 centimeters of snow along the Västerbotten coast, which means very difficult weather with risk of disruption of social functions.
In the interior of Jämtland and Västerbotten, there can be up to 20 centimeters of snow.
Trains are canceled when the storm comes
SMHI has also warned of very strong winds in Norrbotten, Västerbotten and from Gävleborg and Dalarna and the south, in addition to Småland.
On Wednesday evening, the Swedish Transport Administration announced that several train departures on the west coast will be canceled from evening until Friday. The reason is the very strong winds, Ekot writes.
In Gävleborg, downed trees have blocked roads in central Gävle, Norrmyran, Älvkarleby and Rudsjö, but have also led to power outages, writes SVT Gävleborg. SMHI has warned of winds of up to 24 meters per second.
Värmland, Sunne and Årjäng were affected by a power outage on Thursday morning, electricity supplier Ellevio announces.
– The rapid change in climate is due to the masses of warm air from below the continent that rise and meet the cold air from the north, which forms a low pressure that in turn creates temperature differences, says Maria Augutis.
According to her, on Friday it will calm down and it will be sunny in various parts of the country with temperatures around zero degrees. This weekend, the weather changes again.
