The Governor of Jämtland, former politician C Jöran Hägglund, is leaving his post to take up a new post as CEO in government offices. According to Hägglund, the reason is his poor health.

Jöran Hägglund was previously Secretary of State to Maud Olofsson and since 2014 has served as Governor of Jämtland. A little more than six months after the extension of his appointment, he left office.

According to Hägglund, the reason for leaving his assignment is that he had health problems during the summer. As of December 1, Hägglund will work as CEO in government offices.

Last year, Östersunds-Posten reported a lot of discontent in the Jämtland County Board of Directors. Several employees have testified about the lack of a work environment, abusive discrimination, and a lack of trust in the administration of the county administrative board. The Swedish Work Environment Authority has started an inspection of the operation, which was previously carried out at the request of the chief safety representative of the County Administrative Board.

But according to Hägglund, his decision has nothing to do with the information in the local media, but with the fact that his poor health makes it difficult for him to perform the job of governor sufficiently.

– I have been a public figure for 30 years and have been involved in both positive and negative writing, so in no way has he played a role in this, says Jöran Hägglund at a digital press conference.

It has not yet been decided what your tasks will be in Government Offices, but the starting point is that they should be able to be done more from home.

– I tend to think of myself as potatoes, which can be used for most things, says Hägglund.

Employment is until July 31 of next year. After that, Hägglund, who was 62 at the time, plans to retire.
