2,200 policemen were ready to handle the rally announced against the German government’s coronary restrictions on Wednesday. During the morning, between 5,000 and 10,000 people are said to have participated.

Police repeatedly warned that the demonstration would break up if participants did not keep their distance and wear mouth guards. When that didn’t happen, the police deployed water cannons. Several protesters responded by throwing bottles and stones, police said.

The water cannons are used to drench the protesters and make them choose to leave the scene.
