In Spain and France, relief is being considered when the rapid spread of infection in the fall slowly slows down.

But in Germany, a concerned foreign minister calls for stricter restrictions.

Spain

On Monday, 38,273 new cases of covid-19 were notified in Spain since last Friday. This meant a continued decline in the number of new cases after a peak of 55,000 two weekends ago.

All regions of the country, with the exception of Cantabria and Asturias, registered a decrease in new daily cases this Monday, reports El País.

This means that in some places certain restrictions are decided on restrictions.

In Catalonia, where, among other things, there is a night curfew and it is not allowed to serve in restaurants and bars, the Minister of Health, Alba Vergés, warns that certain activities will be reopened next week.

In the Madrid capital region, particularly strict restrictions have prevailed in 41 of the so-called health districts. But now they are rising in ten of the districts, where the spread of the infection has significantly slowed.

In the rest of the 31 districts, however, it still applies that residents can only leave their homes for special reasons, such as going to work.

However, the pressure on the country’s hospitals remains high. About a third of all intensive care units are occupied by covidual patients.

France

French Health Minister Olivier Véran says the country is slowly beginning to regain control of the virus.

– We are in a phase in which the pandemic is losing strength, although the spread of the infection remains high, he tells the French news channel BFM TV.

However, it is not about lifting strict national restrictions. Véran says he cannot yet give a date for the reopening of the company.

Many merchants, especially in retail, hope to be able to resume operations again in December, so as not to miss out on the significant income from the Christmas trade. The government has closed the door in search of such relief, but has not yet released any information.

Currently, 4,880 covid patients are in intensive care in France, which places a heavy burden on a health system that had a total of 5,000 intensive care units before the pandemic, reports AFP.

After increasing the capacity, there is currently room for a total of 7,700 intensive care patients.

Germany

The situation remains very serious in Germany, despite the fact that the spread of the infection is no longer increasing at the same rate, warns Chancellor Angela Merkel.

– Infection rates are no longer growing exponentially, but they are still too high. So we have to reduce our contacts, reduce our contacts, reduce our contacts, says Merkel according to Reuters.

Representatives of the federal government and the states of the country postponed a decision on a possible tightening of the existing restrictions. It is now scheduled to be announced on November 25.

Merkel says she would have preferred states to agree to stricter rules already today.

“Every day counts in the fight against the coronavirus,” says the chancellor.

In recent weeks, Germany has frequently registered more than 20,000 new daily cases of Covid-19. On Monday, however, there were 10,824 comparatively low cases.

The number of covid patients in intensive care has risen from 360 in early October to more than 3,300 today, according to AFP.
