News of fatal accidents can also be positive. Never before had such a person died in road traffic during the month of October.
Last month, 11 people lost their lives in traffic on our roads, according to preliminary information from the Swedish Transport Agency. Last year there were 23.
“This is the first time that we have less than half compared to the corresponding month in 2019 and compared to the average number of deaths in the last five years 2015-2019,” says statistician Khabat Amin in a press release.
The average number of deaths in October 2015-2019 was 24 people.
It is also the first time that the Swedish Transport Agency can report fewer than 200 deaths in the last twelve months. From November 2019 to October 2020, 185 people died in road traffic.
During the first ten months of the year, 155 people were killed on the roads, meaning 2020 has a good chance of ending as the least fatal traffic year to date.
