After Malmö FF claimed the club’s 21st Allsvenskan title against Sirius on 8 November, there was joy and applause from both the dressing room and the fans. Very jubilant players embraced and celebrated with the usual golden scenes inside the sewers of the Eleda Stadium.
The joy turned out to be short-lived: After showing some symptoms, team captain Anders Christiansen was examined for crown in the locker room, while the rest of the team was on the players’ bus on their way to a joint dinner.
The message came quickly: Christiansen’s test showed a positive message, and the joint celebration was canceled with immediate effect. Later, Malmö FF also announced that the club stopped activities around the A team during the national team’s break.
Generalized infection in Malmö FF
In an interview with the Icelandic media, Arnor Traustason later confirmed that he had received a crown and therefore stayed home from the national team collection.
Now the information to Kvällsposten states that a large number of players in Malmö FF have been affected by the crown and that the infection is currently widespread in team A.
– Probably a maximum of seven or eight players from team A who will train on Tuesday, a source from the club tells Kvällsposten.
Several independent sources also confirm that the infection is widespread within the team and that a large number of team A players have tested positive for Covid-19. On Sunday Malmö FF will play a match against Hammarby at Tele2 arena.
Kvällposten has contacted Malmö FF for comment.
