With three rounds remaining for the season, IFK Gothenburg is struggling to stay in the Allsvenskan. BK Häcken fights at the other end of the table for European places. Hisingsklubben is second after 27 rounds.
Next Monday, the teams will meet in Gamla Ullevi, and on this week’s episode of the GT fan podcast BBpodd, hosts Joakim Hanäs and Patrik Glimberg will give their thoughts on Häcken as a club.
– BK Häcken always fails as soon as something happens. As soon as they have to face a team that is good, as soon as they have a chance to take home a title, they fold. They don’t have the feeling of winning, they never have. Those who are there are a bunch of collapsed players who would not have had the slightest desire to play for Häcken had it not been for the wallet. The only reason they are there is that they make a lot of money and that is pretty good because there are no requirements. They can roam Hisingen and nobody cares, says Joakim Hanäs.
“They will never win the Swedish Championship gold”
Hanäs continues his presentation on Hisingsklubben:
– What is the clearest angle at BK Häcken? They don’t have an audience, but on the other hand they don’t have anyone else because of the crown, so we can’t accept it. On the other hand, one might think that in a season like this, when no one has an audience, the odds are even. BK Häcken has probably never had as much of a chance to win the Allsvenskan as this year, but they haven’t done it anymore. All that said, it is very, very easy to say that BK Häcken will never win gold in the Swedish Championship. It is the biggest losers club in Sweden.
Blåvitt supporter Andreas Toll, who is visiting this week’s episode, completes:
– The hedges are so small and harmless. The only title they have is the cup title from a few years ago. It is his greatest success. And the cup … I mean, even we could win the cup this year. We are having the worst season in our history, but we could still win the cup.
“I want to win before I quit”
Erik Friberg, one of the key protagonists of BK Häcken, takes criticism lightly.
– 2012 was very close, we led with a ton of rounds left, and this year we are up there too. But in fact, they are right, we have not yet won any gold in the Swedish Championship. But I think we will one day, but if I join then I will know in hell, haha … But it is clear that I want to win before I quit, he says and continues:
– You must also remember that we are quite new in these contexts. We climbed in 2009 and little by little we have established ourselves at the top. So I don’t want to get into some kind of bite with the BBpodd guys, even if it’s fun with a little hitch before the derby. And given the Blåvitt situation, I think it might not be the right time to talk about a losing club.
Do you play at BK Häcken just because it’s well paid and you can wander around Hisingen without anyone caring?
– Haha, it’s so bad that it’s not true. I’ve been to BK Häcken my whole life and I’m only here because I love the club. Then there are players from all teams who do not have the same club heart as those who have a long history at the club, but that is not strange.
You yourself were relevant to Blåvitt before the 2015 season and received a contract proposal.
– It has never been spoken for me. Here in Gothenburg, it is BK Häcken who applies. But it will be a lot of fun with the derby in a week!
