Belgium made it 2-0 at home to England. This meant Denmark was whipped to win against Iceland at home at Parken in Copenhagen for a chance to reach a group final against the Belgians on Wednesday.

So it was.

But sat very deep inside. The Danes took the lead early in the first half after receiving a penalty. Christian Eriksen was the insurance himself from eleven meters and set the tone.

But Iceland came back. At the end of the second half, five minutes from the end, Iceland drew through Vidar Örn Kjartansson. From time to time, the Danes seemed to miss a chance to win their Nations League group.

But in injury time, the team received a new penalty after an Icelander took the ball with his hand in his own area.

Eriksen stepped forward again and decided until 2-1.

Thus, Iceland loses for the second consecutive game a match in the final minutes. Just a few days ago, the European Championship ticket spiraled out of control in Iceland after Hungary turned a 0-1 disadvantage into a 2-1 stoppage time win.

Erik Hamrén now has one game left as captain of the Icelandic national team. The team will face England on Wednesday.
