“On Saturday night, two people could be arrested on suspicion of the detonation that the police suspect points to a colleague. I really want to thank the staff for their determination and drive in this job. Although we now have two detainees, the special event continues in full force, ”says Ulf Johansson, head of the Mitt police region, according to a press release.

The hand grenade detonated on a staircase in Uppsala’s Sala Hill district.

The two persons general destruction, attempted murder and gross violation of the flammable and explosive products law are reasonably suspected.

According to Pär Halldén, Commander and Chief of Police in Uppsala County, the region’s police and the national bomb squad have carried out technical investigations, and nearly 150 interrogations have been carried out in the case.

“The research work led us to two interesting people who could join. After being questioned later on Saturday night, these two could be detained following a decision of the prosecutors, ”Halldén says according to the press release.

Interior Minister Mikael Damberg (S) links the grenade attack to offensive work by the police against serious criminals.

In a statement on Saturday, he called the incident “an attack on our rule of law and all of Swedish society.”

The head of the National Police, Anders Thornberg, was in a statement on the same track:

“If the crime is directed at the police in their professional role, it is an attack on the entire Police Authority and the legal community.”
