Next week may offer a shimmering overcast November when the cloud cover opens up and gives off rays of sunshine. At the end of the week, cooler air comes in, which can lead to snow, not only in the north but also in the southernmost parts of Norrland and Svealand.
If you’ve experienced that the weather has been like a warm blanket, but gray lately, you’re right.
– I think many have experienced that it has been gray, misty, misty with rain or drizzle. Our cloud propagation analyzes show this to be true. The last week has been mostly cloudy, but yesterday a bit cracked in Götaland, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist on duty at SMHI.
Heat record hit
So far, it has also been unusually hot for the season. In some parts of the country, the average temperature has been two to five degrees higher than normal. At Gladhammar in Småland, it was also record hot on November 6, when the record for November heat, 18.4 degrees, was hit from November 2, 1968 at Ugerup in Skåne.
– It may be coincidences that make it a heat record, but for our climatologists it may be interesting to follow up, says Sofia Söderberg.
Over the next week, cloudy and warm weather looks set to give way to more varied weather at the beginning of the week.
– You can make it open up and turn into sparkles of sunshine, says Sofia Söderberg.
Lower temperature
During Thursday, there are many signs that cooler air is starting to come in.
– In the southern part of the country, it can lead to lower temperatures, even if it means more normal temperatures for the season. If there is precipitation, there may be snow elements not only in the north but also in the southernmost parts of Norrland and Svealand. In Götaland, there are no such signs at present, says Sofia Söderberg.
The change to colder weather can be a reminder that it’s time to set aside an hour to switch to winter tires if you haven’t already.
– It can be good to follow the forecasts to see the road conditions in winter.
