Örebro 6-5 Rögle after extra time

Rögle chased his sixth straight triple in SHL, but went uphill early at the top with Örebro. The pace increased a lot compared to the last laps and the home team got into the driver’s seat.

Rögle had a hard time disarming Örebro’s quick attacking game and the 1-0 goal came in force after 11:45. Mathias Bromé played with Robin Kovacs who shot straight and Johan Gustafsson on Röglemålet had no time for the quick lateral movement.

Rögle also created something of a forward; the best situation came when Olli Palola released Anton Bengtsson. His backhand went straight to the goalkeeper. Instead, it was Örebro who rose to 2-0. Kristian Näkyvä had to stand completely unmarked in the middle of the castle and hit the puck after 6:45 p.m., which gave Rögle a difficult situation before the second period.

The response of the guests it came, however, immediately after the break. Daniel Zaar and Leon Bristedt worked the puck at Moritz Seider, who fired from his back position. Ben Smith obscured the goalie and the puck found its way to 2-1. Rögle physically matched Örebro in a better way and initially dominated, but then a cold shower came as Robert Leino came free and racked up at 3-1.

Rögle responded to adversity. Only 1.25 after the goal came 3-2. Simon Ryfors won the technique, played behind Lukas Ekeståhl-Jonsson and hit the surface in front of goal. From there, Simon Ryfors scored his ninth goal of the season. Rögle wasn’t ready there but tied shortly after. Éric Gélinas entered the door and shot, on the return Taylor Matson stayed in front and lashed out at 3-3.

Nils Höglander managed to finish in the frame of the goal, Rögle won the shots with 15-5 in the second and had caught up before the third.

Kept swaying in the third period. Örebro first took the lead again, before a royal pattern attack meant 4-4. Daniel Zaar played for Simon Ryfors, who found Leon Bristedt in a newly composed unit. He passed a pass to Daniel Zaar who crashed into the far post and there he scored an open goal.

Rögle, however, remained sloppy in defensive play. After 9:50, it was Örebro who took the lead again, this time through Christopher Mastomäki, who knocked the puck into the net, surrounded by four visiting players.

The guests once again had to go in search of the tie and, as before, Rögle managed to return. With 5.20 to go, Daniel Zaar pretended to shoot and then hit a full opening pass to Samuel Jonsson, who only had to hit 5-5 in an empty area.

With just over a minute to go, Örebro had two great positions to decide, but the end went out and down the post.

It was an extension and there Örebro had the opportunity to play with power. It only took 28 seconds for the home team to decide when Rodrigo Abols scored it 6-5.
