The moderates want to see a month in prison for disorderly conduct in the courtroom

Expressen has reported on an ongoing chaotic case at the Södertörn District Court, after the police exploited a suspected drug addict.

When a police officer testified, he encountered a “pig noise” in court. A 22-year-old man who was singled out as a gang leader yelled at the court, among other things:

– You guys are the whole group of motherfuckers.

The judge in the case, Sara Rosén, says there was behavior in the courtroom that could be tried as a criminal.

The moderates’ legal policy spokesman, Johan Forssell, reacts strongly to the incident. The party is now proposing a change in the law in which judges can serve prison terms of up to one month for “disorderly conduct” in the courtroom.

– We have seen a development where we receive reports of more and more riots in the Swedish courts. And this what you’re reporting on now, was probably the last straw that caused the cup to just overflow, says Forssell.

Forssell: clear signal

It describes the proposal as an extension of the system that exists today, where the court can impose fines if someone makes inappropriate statements.

– This will be an independent sanction. It is not a human right to shout such horrible things at the president of the court or threaten him, on the contrary, it must be taken very seriously. In the same way that we take ourselves very seriously when threats are made, for example, against the police, says Forssell.

Now it will be proposed in a motion to the Justice Commission:

– I think that there is a slippage in the whole society, that very unpleasant violations are normalized. I take it badly when I see that it even happens in Swedish courts. There we have to put our foot on the ground.
