Still crowded – two weeks after the tip

On Friday October 30, the day after the strict city councils were introduced in Stockholm, Expressen went out to Stockholm and was able to claim that it was still crowded on the streets, in the subway and in shopping malls.

Since then, all the curves have continued in the wrong direction.

The number of new illnesses in the last three days was then 2,421, and five new deaths had been reported in the last three days. 148 covid patients were hospitalized, of which 15 in intensive care.

Now 4,666 cases and a total of 41 deaths have been reported in three days. 471 people are hospitalized, of which 38 are in intensive care.

“It finally ends”

But the capital is still far from empty. In some places there are slightly smaller people moving around. In other places, the crowds are more or less the same, despite the fact that it is raining, which was not the case two weeks ago.

Two of the stockholmers in town on Friday are Leif Caspersson and Marie Kjellner, both 65 years old.

– The advice is nothing to say, but it is not so strange that it escalates in this climate when people are crowded and sit a lot inside, says Leif Caspersson.

Do you follow the crown tips that are available?

– Yes. I think people are good at keeping their distance in shops, but buses and the subway are difficult, says Leif Caspersson.

– We do not travel that much, but in the times we travel there are not so many people, says Marie Kjellner.

What do you think of the near future?

– I am hopeful and hope that there is a vaccine and that this finally stabilizes. In the end, finish, says Marie.

– It will probably take at least six months for it to flatten out again, says Leif.

Municipalities in Stockholm County

These tips apply to the Stockholm County public:

Refrain from staying in indoor environments such as stores, shopping centers, museums, libraries, bathrooms, and gyms. Visits to, for example, supermarkets and pharmacies can be made.

Refrain from participating, for example, in meetings, concerts, performances, sports training, matches and competitions. However, this does not apply to sports training for children and youth born in 2005 or later.

If possible, avoid having physical contact with people other than those you live. This means, among other things, a deterrence from organizing or participating in a party or similar social gathering.

Göran K Hansson, permanent secretary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, is critical of the Swedish Public Health Agency and the government. “Now there have been a number of studies showing that mouth protection reduces the spread of infection,” says Hansson.
