During a press conference on Friday, Donald Trump declared that his administration will not introduce a new blockade. However, he could not promise that another administration would make the same decision.
– Hopefully, whatever happens in the future. Who knows what administration it will be? Only time will tell, Trump said.
Earlier on Friday, several American media companies came out and called the decided election, after Joe Biden definitively won the state of Georgia and Donald Trump took North Carolina home. This means that Biden has 306 voters, while Trump has 232.
He promised a vaccine “very quickly”
However, the president declined to answer media questions about the election at the press conference. Instead, the focus was on Operation Warp Speed. The project, which began the administration this spring, aims to facilitate and accelerate the development, production and distribution of vaccines against covid-19.
And when Trump described the vaccine situation, it was in positive terms. He praised Pfizer’s vaccine, which in studies showed 90 percent effectiveness against COVID-19, something the pharmaceutical giant announced Monday.
“Our investment will allow us to provide the Pfizer vaccine for free,” Trump said, adding:
– It will be approved very, very quickly.
As it sounded to Trump, his administration has had a major impact on the development of the vaccine. However, the AP writes that this is not true and that Pfizer has not received any investment from the White House.
“Drastically reduce deaths”
Trump continued his speech by explaining how the vaccine will be distributed in the United States in the future. In the first instance, it will be given to health care and emergency services, as well as to the elderly and people with underlying diseases.
“In that way, we will dramatically reduce the death toll,” Trump said.
– We will effectively end this part of the pandemic and allow older people to live their golden years.
Trump promised, as he did before, that the general public will have access to vaccines in April of next year.
Now there are only months left for the Trump couple to move out of the White House. What will happen in the future for the first lady is uncertain.
