Despite the spread of the infection, academics continue to work from offices, as DN previously reported. It is especially the banking sector and the municipalities that stand out. Two-thirds of Finansförbundet members say they continue to go to the workplace, while the Akavia union notes that only 40 percent of members who are municipal employees work from home.
Friday called Labor Minister Eva Nordmark (S) at a meeting with unions and employers to discuss new measures to increase the proportion of home-based workers and secure the working environment for those who have to travel to their workplace. The meeting was attended by the Swedish Business Confederation, LO, TCO and the municipalities and regions of Sweden, SKR.
– I know that many work hard, but I also see that more people must assume this responsibility, says Eva Nordmark after the meeting.
– We must think outside the box and allow even professional groups that are normally in their workplace to perform certain tasks from home. Even if we do it very well, we have to deliver better results.
According to information from DN, there are employees who need to go to their workplace even though they can work from home. what do you think about it?
– I think it’s bad. I’ve also seen and received such signals and I think employers here really need to facilitate it, Nordmark says and continues:
– We are at a time when all indicators are going in the wrong direction and everyone should be helped to flatten the curve.
Do you think you could have been even clearer to employers about the recommendations?
– You can always be. We are in the middle of a pandemic and we are learning all the time. You have to be very humble in a situation like this.
