When Brynäs was finally able to play the match again, it was a loss.
Rögle took the fifth consecutive victory after the performance of Nils Höglander:
– Rögle wins fairly. Our performance is very uneven, Brynäs coach Peter Andersson tells C More.
Even though Brynäs has been spared from confirmed crown drops, Gävle’s team has been playing involuntarily for almost two and a half weeks, or more precisely for 16 days. The reason has been that Brynäs’ anticipated opponents on the assembly line have suffered from a team crown and matches have gone ahead. Before the national team break, it was the meetings with Leksand and Djurgården that had to be postponed.
And when the series restarted on Tuesday, it was Brynäs’ intended opponent, HV71, who brought the insidious virus to the team.
But tonight Peter Andersson’s team was finally able to play the match again, and the opposition was the toughest imaginable – the top team Rögle out.
But in Brynäs no ring rust was noticed in the first period. Although Daniel Zaar scored the first goal of the game, the guests kept up with the home team in the first half.
– A lot of things are good, but of course we want to improve anyway, get more pucks towards the goal, says team captain Anton Rödin to C More, who returned after his four-game suspension that in practice only became in a match.
Daniel Zaar also liked the first period:
– Fun match, a little difference against Malmö last time. Now there’s speed on the road, harder games, and better passing.
Resolute Hoglanders Show
If the first period was even, it was only Rögle in the middle period. Simon Ryfors rose to 2-0 in powerplay after Nils Höglander put on a delightful show and gave Ryfors an open goal.
Rögle had a chance to raise to 3-0 when Emil Molin showed up for wrong technique. Instead, Brynäs organized the game at a numerical disadvantage and when Molin entered the ice he was released and reduced:
– Of course very nice and very important. 0-3 and it would have been tough, now it’s 1-2 and we’re in the game, says Molin. He was also asked if he is nervous about sitting in the ejection cabin:
– Yes, especially if you have a bad expulsion, you are.
Rögle’s dominance was roughly the same in the third period. Nils Höglander shaved at 3-1 and Erik Andersson determined the final result in an empty cage.
Fifth consecutive victory for Rögle and the Scanians consolidate their position at the top of the table.
