It was on Tuesday that an employee of the Great Mosque of Eskilstuna opened the threatening letter and dusted it off. Eskilstuna-Kuriren be the first to break the news.
Since then, many members have been concerned.
– People remember Christchurch, when a man decided to enter a mosque and execute 51 visitors. Of course, it is in people’s memory and they think this may be a warning of something bigger that may happen in the future, says Anas Deneche, communications manager for the Great Mosque of Eskilstuna.
“We are confident of continuing our business”
The Great Mosque of Eskilstuna has also previously received several threatening letters. It has been sent by letter or text message, or received as a phone call. According to the mosque, it has been expressed in messages that the members are leaving the country, that they do not fit in here and that they are murderers and terrorists. However, in the mosque it sounds like hatred affects business.
– We have contact with the police and we feel safe in the work they do, and we also feel safe in continuing our business here in Eskilstuna, says Anas Deneche.
