The Victoria Nursing Home and Nursing Home in Limhamn was hit hard by a corona outbreak this fall.
According to Madeleine Lundström, CEO of Förenade Care, which manages the accommodation, there are around ten, up to 15, residents who have been infected.
Jeanette Arkemyr, whose 86-year-old mother was infected at the residence, disputes the information.
– I think it’s a much higher number than they say. We have received information that everyone in the accommodation is infected, but of course I cannot confirm this because I have no information about the accommodation.
However, it is information that Madeleine Lundström rejects.
– That is not true. We have entire units where there is no infection.
According to information from Kvällsposten, the infection must also be widespread among staff and at least one person must have become seriously ill.
– We do not comment on the infection in the staff, but it happens, answers Madeleine Lundström.
However, he confirms that he is aware that the staff have become seriously ill.
– Yes, some of the staff have been sicker and have had more severe symptoms.
Jeanette Arkemyr says that after learning of the widespread spread of the infection, she reported the accommodation to the police for violation of the Infection Control Act and reported it to Ivo.
– I do not want to blame the staff but I want you to review the business, he points out.
The father died in the crown suites
Kvällposten has spoken with another relative who is upset about the situation.
During the past week, Patrik Hedlund’s father, who has lived in the accommodation since 2018, passed away in the covid-19 suites. Along with another relative of his father, Patrik says he also informed Ivo about the accommodation.
He is critical of his father’s care and treatment when deficiencies have been pointed out to him.
– What matters are the old and the weak, he says.
Another source of transparency is very critical of the hygiene of the accommodation in Limhamn.
– I’m very worried. Staff clothing is washed along with residents clothing and staff do not have private lockers. There are staff who have brought work shoes home. It is unsanitary.
Source: Hygiene deficiencies.
According to the source, the large outbreak is related to deficiencies in hygiene and circumstances that have initially delayed decisions.
In addition, the source affirms that all the substitutes who have been called have not been informed about the spread of covid-19 in the accommodation.
– It’s terrible that it is so.
Nadia Ekelin is Victoria’s operations manager in Limhamn.
– I’m not answering any questions, I mean the central, she says.
Who made the decision not to answer any questions?
– I just don’t answer, I don’t want it.
Madeleine Lundström, CEO of Förenade Care, denies the information about poor hygiene.
– That’s not my opinion. That would surprise me, it is not a task I have and it is not our routines.
He also says that he has yet to receive information on any reports from Ivo. According to Madeleine Lundström, they work closely with infection control and care hygiene and follow the recommendations that exist, including protective gear.
“We are in an extreme situation”
How could there have been such a big outbreak?
– We are in an extreme situation in the region with many infected and in relation to the greater spread of the infection, the curfew was lifted. But we cannot comment on whether it has come through staff, visitors, or residents who have been away.
Have you had enough staff and have all the substitutes discovered that there is an infection in the accommodation?
– I do not perceive that we have lacked personnel. It is clear that when staff must be at home at the slightest symptom, additional staff is required and also when they are isolating themselves and there may have been a shift.
– Yes of course. This is very important.
