United States President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump visited Arlington State Cemetery in Washington DC to honor the many Americans killed in the war on the Day of Atonement.

This is the first time that Donald Trump has appeared in public since the main media companies declared his rival Joe Biden the winner of the US presidential election four days ago.

Donald Trump did not accept the election result, but in a series of Twitter messages he claimed that the election was surrounded by cheating and that his victory was “stolen” from him.

United States President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden attended a ceremony in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, around the same time to honor war veterans.

The truce day always falls on November 11, the date in 1918 when weapons were silenced on the Western Front during World War I. Memorial Day was instituted after the end of the war to honor those who fell in battle.
