Degerfors defeated Gais at Superettan 2-1 on Saturday and appeared to be promoted to the Allsvenskan for a long time. But a late winning goal by Jönköpings Södra against Norrby meant that the ultimate battle has yet to be decided.
There are three rounds left of this year’s superetta and the Degerfors table is eight points behind J-Södra, who is in the heats, which means the breakthrough is not yet complete. Degerfors, on the other hand, can celebrate the Allsvenskan’s advancement in the next round when the team takes on AFC Eskilstuna on the road.
The meeting with the AFC will be played on November 21, after the national team stopped. On Tuesday, however, Degerfors announced that business will be halted for a week when midfielder Adam Carlén tested positive for COVID-19.
Carlén was selected for the Swedish U21 team during this collection, but has now left and will be staying home for now.
“Through the association team doctor, Degerfors IF has regular contact with the infection control doctor in Örebro county. As a precautionary measure, sports activities are stopped for a week. The sports office staff will work at home, “the club writes on its website.
Degerfors also announces that Carlén is fine under the circumstances.
