The Swedish Public Health Agency, in consultation with infection control doctors and county administrative boards in three regions, has opted for stricter general advice. The reason is the increasing spread of infection and increasing pressure on medical care in Kalmar, Norrbotten, Västerbotten. The advice is valid until December 8.
Residents in the regions are now being urged to avoid physical contact with others outside their own home. You should also avoid indoor environments where congestion can occur, such as stores, malls, museums, and gyms.
For residents of Norrbotten and Västerbotten counties, it is also important to refrain from unnecessary travel.
At 13 o’clock On Tuesday, the Blekinge region also announced that it will introduce stricter general advice from Wednesday through November 30. The decision was made by the region and the infection control doctor in Blekinge, but not in conjunction with the Public Health Agency. The content of the council, on the other hand, is similar.
– We must act now, we cannot wait for the process led by the general councils. These rules apply for the rest of the month, but perhaps they can be overridden by advice from the Swedish Public Health Agency, remains to be seen, says infection control doctor Bengt Wittesjö at the region’s press conference.
Residents of the region are urged, among other things, to avoid necessary travel and not to visit places where there is a risk of congestion. Nor should they spend time with people outside their own family or home.
Previously, the Blekinge County Board of Trustees decided to uphold the ban on major public gatherings. Therefore, the limit of 50 people continues to apply after the spread of the infection has increased in the region.
Following Tuesday’s announcement, 14 of Sweden’s 21 regions have introduced stricter advice to limit the spread of the infection.
Also in Värmland a debate on regional restrictions is ongoing.
– We are sitting waiting for the Public Health Agency to give us the local restrictions. But it seems to be surrounded by a big administration because it takes a long time, says Fredrik Larsson, M, chairman of the regional board in Värmland.
According to him, the dialogue between the region’s infection control and the authority began last week, but they have not received any information yet.
– The Swedish Public Health Agency does not consider it so serious, but we do. Somehow then we review the attitude of the authority and it is very strange.
He doesn’t like the government and the Swedish Public Health Agency keeps up with the administrative boards of the regions and counties. It highlights the government’s decision to ease public restrictions, something that was stopped directly by the County Administrative Board in Värmland.
– Then there will be no national coordination of the fight against the pandemic.
Fredrik Larsson is hesitant about regional restrictions because you can work and live in different regions.
– It is communicatively difficult. I miss the national leadership of the government.
