MALMÖ. MFF meets Hammarby in the next round.

Then the new champions wait for “Zlatans Hammarby” to form an honor guard before kick-off.

– They must do that, exclaim Ola Toivonen and Behrang Safari.

The tradition is called “honor guard” and it means that a team that has decided the series before it ends is greeted by the opponent who forms a corridor and applauds the champions as they enter the field.

The last time Malmö FF took gold, in 2017, AIK paid tribute to their rival in this way in the subsequent match.

It has now happened that MFF will face Hammarby in Stockholm in the next round, the same Hammarby in which Zlatan Ibrahimovic became a partner exactly one year ago, causing a lot of bad blood among MFF supporters.

Wait honor guard

After the gold match, Behrang Safari and Ola Toivonen were asked if they expected Hammarby, despite Zlatan’s involvement with the club, to form a salute guard before kickoff on Sunday, November 22 at Tele 2 Arena.

– They must do that, exclaims the experienced duo MFF.

– AIK did this last time. I think Hammarby will do the same. I don’t think they have a problem with that, Safari says.

– I don’t think so either, says Toivonen.
