The Malmö FF team was going to celebrate the 21st Allsvenskan gold at Malmö Live with a meal in a small circle. But the event was canceled before it had time to start and now the entire MFF business is on hiatus for at least a week.
– Yes, it is true that we canceled the golden dinner. Some people did not feel well after the game and tests are underway, confirms MFF President Anders Pålsson from Sydsvenskan.
A quick test showed that Anders Christiansen has been confirmed to be infected with covid 19.

– Anders didn’t feel anything before the game. He put in a lot of effort on the field, celebrated afterward and conducted interviews, but when his adrenaline subsided he felt listless and his stomach ached. When the other players left by bus, Anders stayed with our team doctor and had a quick test that came back positive, Malmö FF sports manager Daniel Andersson tells mff.se.

According to information to Sydsvenskan, the squad headed by bus to Malmö Live when everything was resolved with interviews and the like after the victory game against Sirius. But the bus turned around and the troop dispersed and everyone went home. That was when the message arrived.

It is not confirmed if more players felt bad. However, the entire squad had to be crowned before leaving the stadium.

– Tomorrow we will see what the test results will be, says Anders Pålsson.

On Sunday, however, MFF decided to announce that, as a safety measure, the activities of the men’s team and MFF staff will be halted for a week, and everyone will be home-bound to the Public Health Agency’s rules of conduct.

All personnel who worked with the party must also work from home until further notice.

This week, MFF announced that coach Jon Dahl Tomasson tested positive for Covid-19 and was isolated at home. Another leader was also known to be ill. It turned out to be assistant coach Remy Reijmjerse, who wasn’t in the gold game either.

The team was led by Daniel Bäckström, assistant coach, together with Daniel Andersson, the sporting director.

None of the regular players were missing from the match squad.

However, Sirius had to leave two players who tested positive for the coronavirus at home.

Malmö FF now has no games until November 22, when a national team break awaits. However, several players will be assigned then and how it will be with that will of course determine the tests performed on the team on Sunday night.

– I know of no other cases than the two leaders and Anders Christiansen. But we do not know the result of the other tests after the game, says Anders Pålsson.
