On Twitter, the world’s fourth richest man says that he personally wants to recruit problem solvers.
In a container at the construction site on the outskirts of Berlin, Musk held meetings in hopes of speeding up the German bureaucracy. The Tesla factory in China was completed last year in record time, and Musk appears frustrated that licensing and other formalities mean work is slow at what will be the electric carmaker’s first factory in Europe.
– We talked, with a kebab and a beer, about the factory hours, says Jörg Steinbach, regional trade minister, to the BZ newspaper after meeting the billionaire in the container.
This is the second time in a short time that the Tesla boss has visited the construction site on the outskirts of Berlin. German media describe the visit as surprising, but Musk is also expected to return in December.
Via Twitter, Musk has called in the best engineers and said that he conducts job interviews in Berlin himself. “When you submit your application please describe some really difficult problems you solved and exactly how you solved them”, writes Musk.
The 49-year-old US-based man, who also leads, among other things, the space company Space X, is ranked after Bloomberg raised Tesla’s stock market as the fourth-richest person in the world.
After Berlin, Musk continued to Sweden, and Tesla confirmed overnight that he is in the country on private business.
