GOTHENBURG. August Erlingmark misses the anxious meeting with Helsingborg after a close relative tested positive for COVID-19.
Pontus Wernbloom also missed the last training session on Saturday.
– It’s hard to knock out a team, says coach Roland Nilsson.
é Yesterday IFK Gothenburg announced that Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr will be out for a year after sustaining a serious injury that required surgery.
On Saturday, more hits came for the great crisis club.
August Erlingmark misses Sunday’s important game against Helsingborg. The midfielder has been quarantined after a close relative tested positive for COVID-19.
– It is really sad to miss the game, but at the same time it is important to follow the guidelines and recommendations that exist. I will support the team where I am and hope to be back soon, says Erlingmark on the club’s website.
No spread of infection
According to the press release, Erlingmark himself has not tested positive and there are no signs of the infection spreading among other players and team leaders.
Blåvitt faces Helsingborg tomorrow at home and urgently needs all three points to avoid the risk of falling into the relegation zone.
In Saturday’s final training session, in front of about 100 fans, key player Pontus Wernbloom was also missing.
– Pontus didn’t train today. We have chosen to be careful with him. We will save this day and see how we do it. Has some feelings. We know that 24 hours can mean a lot in this situation, says Roland Nilsson.
Four definitely left
In addition to Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr and August Erlingmark, midfielder André Calisir (suspended) and left-back Yahya Kalley (injured) also miss the bottom band against HIF.
– We have not been able to play with the same eleven in most matches. We don’t have many training sessions in the weeks to be able to play together as a team. It’s been tough, says Roland Nilsson.
– This is not the situation you want. At the same time, we cannot change anything. We get down to work with what we have and we know where we are at the table. The boys do very well and keep their spirits up all the time.
