Stena Line stops passenger traffic between Gothenburg – Fredrikshamn

The temporary stop is valid from November 9 to December 3.

The decision comes after Denmark introduced tougher restrictions in North Jutland, where a total of seven municipalities are affected. One of those affected is Fredrikshamn and therefore Stena Line now stops all passenger traffic to the municipality.

– It is clear that this affects us negatively. We depend on both passenger and freight traffic. But at the same time, we have gotten used to the new restrictions all the time this year. It is a great uncertainty for everyone, even for Stena Line, Carl Mårtensson, Stena Line press manager, tells GP.

“He takes the situation very seriously”

According to a press release from Stena Line, freight traffic will continue to flow as usual, but on the Gothenburg-Fredrikshamn route only freight and drivers on board will navigate.

– We take this situation very seriously and of course we follow the recommendations of the Danish authorities. We have therefore decided to close passenger traffic on the line between Gothenburg and Fredrikshamn during this period, but we continue to secure significant freight traffic, just as we did throughout the pandemic, says Elisabeth Lönne, head of Stena lines Line in Denmark.

Passengers who now have their trips canceled are offered instead to travel with another line.
