MFF: Don’t come to the stadium to celebrate the Swedish Championship gold

Don’t come to the stadium to celebrate our gold in the Swedish Championship. It is Malmö FF’s call to their fans if the club secures the title on Sunday.
– We must all take responsibility and not contribute to the spread of the infection, says security chief Peter Narbe.

When Malmö FF claimed its last gold in the Swedish Championship in 2017, it happened in Norrköping before a big away party and the next day around 2,000 fans gathered at the stadium and paid tribute to the players and leaders.

Something similar is not relevant if MFF on Sunday secures the gold of this year’s Swedish Championship at home against Sirius. This puts an end to the current pandemic restrictions.

– We cannot offer any controlled celebration or that the players go out to meet the fans in any way given the conditions. We don’t know if we will win gold in the Swedish Championship, but as head of security I have to plan what theoretically can happen, says Peter Narbe.

Instead, the MFF signal is: don’t come to the Stadium area for any spontaneous celebration.

– We hope and wish that our fans continue to help and take responsibility and do not contribute to the spread of the infection, says the head of security.

An alternative golden celebration the club has outlined was that the squad would process a bus on a predetermined route in Malmö.

– But a procession would be seen by the police as a public event and then you have to apply for a permit. And since more than 50 people are suspected of gathering at their locations, the police informed me that such permission will not be granted, says Narbe.

Instead, the solution will be a digital celebration.

– We have put ourselves in a very nice position but nothing is clear, it is important to point out. We are prepared for our fans to have a memorable evening with us digitally because it is important that we and our fans continue to take responsibility and show consideration for not creating large crowds, says Peter Sohlmér, Malmö FF press manager.

As before during the Allsvenskan season, the match is decided without an audience and the club will have additional staff on site to prevent an unauthorized person from trying to enter.

– We are responsible for the stadium and a small area on the outskirts, but we are not responsible for the rest of the stadium area, says Narbe.

It is the task of the police to ensure that there are no large crowds outside the arena, but the Malmö Police will not have any special command in the Stadium area in connection with the match.

– In general, we are where the people are, but we trust that people respect the situation society is in right now with the spread of infection. We are not afraid of any disturbances, but if we notice that our presence is needed somewhere, we will be there, says Nils Norling, press spokesman for the Malmö Police.

Paths from MFF to SM Gold

Malmö FF leads the Allsvenskan with ten points with four rounds of Allsvenskan to play. In the event of a win against Sirius at home on Sunday (start at 5.30 pm), the gold club of the 21st Swedish Championship is in port.

However, MFF can secure the Lennart Johansson trophy even before kick-off against the Uppsala team. In case it becomes a fact, the following result is required in other matches:

+ Elfsborg loses to Falkenberg on Saturday. Even at the crossroads, the Borås team is in training far from the gold battle because the team, in addition to nine points, has 19 goals to face in MFF.

+ Häcken lose points at home against Östersund on Saturday.

+ Djurgården loses points at home to AIK. The Stockholm derby kicks off at 2.30pm.

First battle in the Allsvenskan: 1) Malmö FF, 53 points, +27 goal difference, 2) Elfsborg, 43, +8, 3) Djurgården, 42, +13, 4) Häcken, 41, +12.
