Suspected 37 years of 200 false alarms

A 37-year-old man is suspected of having called hundreds of false alarms on SOS alarms, reports Skånska Dagbladet.

These are serious incidents, such as blowing something up himself, someone being injured, or seeing suspicious objects.

The man will be arrested on Friday or Saturday on suspicion of serious blue light sabotage, chamber prosecutor Hans Harding told Skånska Dagbladet.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and is now suspected of having raised some 200 false alarms about serious events in Malmö and Skåne. According to Skånska Dagbladet, the man was only arrested for serious illegal threats after calling threats against the police.

The conversations have been about serious incidents and serious crimes, such as the man exploding something, seeing suspicious objects or people with a knife or bomb belt, or someone risking injury. This has led to great efforts by the police and rescue services.

– It’s like yelling at the wolf too many times. In the end, there is a risk that no one will react, says Hans Harding to Skånska Dagbladet.

He also tells the newspaper that it is serious as other real events are given priority in the event of such alarms.
