Police have launched an investigation into an arson after a car caught fire last night in a garage in a residential area of Norrköping, reports Norrköpings Tidningar.
The alarm went off at 1:24 AM on Friday night that a car was burning with open flames on a driveway in the Pryssgården area. When the rescue service arrived at the scene, the owner of the car had managed to douse the flames with water.
– It has started to burn in a part of the car that does not feel entirely logical, so we have initiated a preliminary investigation for arson. Then we will see if it is so or not, says Mariana Persson, police duty officer, to Norrköpings Tidningar.
An ambulance was called to the scene to examine the owner who had inhaled smoke, but it was not necessary to take him to the hospital. The car has been impounded for technical inspection.
