The number of covid-19 patients is increasing dramatically around the world and is also increasing dramatically in Sweden. On Thursday, 4,034 new cases of confirmed infection were reported during the last 24 hours. At the same time, 6,002 people have died in Sweden as a result of the pandemic.
In various parts of the country, local councils have been introduced at the regional level to curb the local spread of the infection, and on Thursday the Swedish Public Health Agency announced that two more regions, the counties of Södermanland and Konroberg, are now covered by the stricter recommendations.
– The local general councils that have been decided mean that in these regions and counties one must refrain from staying indoors where people gather, such as shops and shopping centers. Necessary visits to stores and malls can be made, but they must be done in safe conditions, says Karin Tegmark Wisell.
The advice can be expanded
The strict advice comes after the situation has become significantly more difficult in the two counties and will apply until November 26, but it can be extended.
Therefore, as of today, residents of the regions are discouraged from any physical contact with people who are not part of the household.
Everyone is also encouraged to maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters both in the workplace and in their free time, and to have digital contact as much as possible when working and studying.
Children excluded
Exceptions may be made for children in the home or family, as well as for one or two friends for singles. However, necessary close contact, such as during care visits and medical exams, is not covered.
Cups, matches and competitions are also not recommended. However, this does not apply to training and sports competitions for children and young people born in 2005 or later, according to the Swedish Public Health Agency.
At the same time, employers are urged to ensure that employees can work from home to the extent possible.
– All companies should take measures to, for example, minimize the number of visitors at the same time, says Karin Tegmark Wisell.
Follow the advice
At the same time, he urges everyone across the country to follow the general advice to curb the spread of the infection.
– The situation is very serious, he says.
– If we fail to keep contacts low and if we fail to comply with the recommendations, we will not be able to contain the strong increase that we see in many regions.
