The alarm for the fire came at 11pm on Wednesday night. The affected building in Lysekil port is 250 meters long and consists of several assembled parts.
– There is damage to most of the property, says Johan Ytterberg, internal commander of the rescue service.
The property has been used for the production of canned food from the fishery, for example pickled herring. Now there was no activity there, according to information to the rescue service.
High flames with sparks outside the building, so there was a risk that adjoining properties would catch fire.
During the night, the rescue service focused on preventing the spread of the fire. Among other things, they received help from the Coast Guard.
– They have water cannons that are good at shooting down sparks. We’ve also asked Preemraff for help, says Johan Ytterberg
Thursday morning was still burning, but the situation was somewhat calmer.
– We have closed personnel. Now we have about 15 in place. We don’t see any risk of spreading into adjacent buildings, Ytterberg says.
Wait for the rescue service you will continue to work on the site for most of the day.
There is no information that anyone was injured in connection with the fire.
The police have launched an investigation into the arson. The fire site will be cordoned off for technical investigation, when the rescue service’s work is complete.
