The alarm went off at 11:20 PM on Wednesday night and the rescue service has had several stations during the night to put out the fire.
– It has been burned properly overnight, says Mona Hedman, internal commander of the rescue service.
The wind carried away the smoke
However, earlier in the evening, the rescue service stressed that the wind blew smoke away from the city. There is no information on injuries.
The property, which previously served as a herring factory, measures 250 by 90 meters and is located in an industrial zone.
– There are some ships stored in the building that we do everything possible to save, says Johan Ytterberg, internal commander.
The fire is under control
In the morning, the rescue service says the fire is under control and there is no longer any risk of it spreading. However, the building that burned down is completely damaged.
The rescue service changed personnel and sent more alert firefighters to the old herring factory.
– Now begins a great work with post-extinction. We will remain in place for many hours.
The police will investigate whether any crime has been committed in connection with the fire.
